I've always had a thing for sports, but looking the part?👀 Well, let's just say my love for food was evident.🫢 More than anything, I wanted to be fit, wear clothes that made me feel HOT🔥, and prevent another pesky 5 pounds from looking like 15 on me.
So, I’d hustle my way through high-intensity workouts and long-duration cardio, eating less than 1200 calories, yet I’d never really be satisfied with any progress I made. And, if I wasn't on my A-game, body fat would always make sneaky comeback, making it harder and harder to lose. And then shame would join the party when I accidentally binged ...or out-ate everyone, including my 6'1" 210lb bodybuilder boyfriend at the time.😔
It felt like NOTHING seemed to work for me like it did for my taller friends.😩 I ALWAYS felt like this odd one out, like I didn't fit in anywhere.
And honestly? For a long time, I believed that my height was the root cause of my unhappiness and feelings of unworthiness. I was convinced that my metabolism was just slow as hell, completely beyond my control, and I was just destined to be eating sub 1200 calories forever.😒
But let me tell you, that narrative has changed. It definitely did NOT happen overnight🙅🏻♀️ — in fact, I think I had to do ALL the wrong things before learning what was right for my body.🤷🏻♀️
The biggest thing that's helped me let go of all the silly food rules I collected over the years of chronic dieting, was re-learning about all the factors that influenced my metabolism — not just calories, but things like... stress, blood sugar regulation, LISS cardio, progressive overload, etc.
All of that^ helped me see that my height was never the problem at all; it was how I approached food and fitness. So, making the necessary tweaks didn't just fix "metabolic damage", it also helped me embrace a much better outlook on my petite body!
